About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage a varied caseload of commercial property matters, including acquisitions and disposals, freehold and leasehold transactions, investment sales and purchases, development work, secured lending, refinancing and portfolio management
  • Advise clients on the legal, commercial and practical aspects of commercial property transactions
  • Identify risks and propose clear, effective solutions aligned with client objectives
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, leases, agreements for lease, licences, transfers, development documentation, overage agreements, deeds of variation and related property documents
  • Review and report on title, leases, searches, replies to enquiries, planning documentation, occupational arrangements and due diligence materials
  • Handle landlord and tenant matters, including new lettings, renewals, assignments, underlettings, rent reviews, licences to alter, licences to assign and lease restructures
  • Support property development and investment transactions
  • Manage transactions from initial instruction through exchange, completion and post-completion
  • Monitor key dates, ensure correct document execution, and complete registration and other post-completion requirements
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, lenders, agents, surveyors, planning consultants, managing agents, other solicitors and relevant authorities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified solicitor or Legal Executive with relevant experience in commercial property
  • Strong private practice or in-house commercial property experience
  • Demonstrable experience managing commercial property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant matters, development work, investment property and property finance
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial property law, including freehold and leasehold transactions, commercial leases, title review, property finance, planning and development documentation
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide clear, commercially focused advice and identify practical solutions to complex issues
  • Strong organisational and file management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and progress transactions proactively
