About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the finance function across two businesses
- Strengthen finance operations and build scalable finance processes
- Lead and develop a Philippines-based finance team of three
- Own group month-end close and consolidation within 48 hours of month-end
- Provide management flash reporting by Day 3
- Improve Xero and inventory-system workflows
- Maintain Xero workflows, reconciliations and finance-system integrity
- Improve inventory, stock and COGS accuracy
- Oversee AP, AR, payment runs, collections and payroll
- Strengthen finance controls, including approval workflows, segregation of duties, journals and write-offs
- Maintain supporting records for Australian BAS, PAYG, superannuation and external advisers
- Prepare consolidated group management reporting, including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and EBITDA reports
- Interpret financial results and explain profitability drivers
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and cash-flow reports
- Manage intercompany accounting and elimination
- Continuously improve finance processes, systems and automation
- Identify finance errors and control weaknesses before they become larger problems
- Support the CEO with reliable financial information and analysis
- Prepare and maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts for cash requirements, asset investments and capital expenditure
- Prepare and review inventory reports, including stock-on-hand, stock adjustments, payables and receivables
- Prepare financial reports, cash-flow forecasts and modelling required by the bank
- Oversee payroll processing across both businesses, including hands-on processing and periodic compliance audits
- Liaise directly with the external accounting firm
- Establish clear finance-team ownership and accountability
- Reduce avoidable manual work and recurring errors while improving team capability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Minimum 3 years in a financial management/leadership role
- Team management experience required
- Personally owned or led month-end close
- Experience supporting Australian businesses in a finance role
- Experience preparing Australian finance information relating to BAS, PAYG and superannuation
- Experience across AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations and management reporting
- Experience managing multiple Xero files and handling internal transactions between them required
- Experience improving finance controls, processes or systems
- Experience investigating finance errors or unusual balances
- Experience in a hands-on finance leadership role
- Ability to communicate finance issues clearly with senior management
- Experience with inventory, stock and COGS is a strict requirement
- Previous food industry experience is a strict requirement
- Experience in FMCG, distribution, wholesale, logistics or supply chain highly regarded
- Hands-on Xero experience, particularly managing multiple Xero files, required
- Cin7 Core experience not essential; strong transferable inventory or ERP experience accepted
- CPA Philippines or equivalent accounting qualification highly regarded, but not the main selection criterion
- Availability for Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Sydney Time (6:00 AM to 3:00 PM Philippine Time)
