About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own product changes from idea to production across the full engineering lifecycle
- Turn requirements into thoughtful technical solutions
- Write high-quality code, test and deploy work, and support it in production
- Apply engineering principles, design patterns, separation of concerns, clean interfaces, and structured data models
- Explain and defend design decisions and trade-offs during reviews
- Restructure code before merge and create extensible components
- Deliver full-stack changes across user interface, services, and data using .NET, C#, SQL Server, and Azure
- Deliver features end to end through production using agreed platform patterns
- Define acceptance criteria and review coding-agent output against specifications
- Maintain repository context and development rules
- Write fast, reliable unit tests covering logic and edge cases and collaborate with the Quality Engineer on higher-level testing
- Design for performance, reliability, security, tenant isolation, scalability, and operational cost
- Deliver through source control, pull requests, and deployment pipelines
- Monitor production changes, participate in the on-call rotation, restore service during incidents, and address root causes
- Review peers' work, contribute to engineering standards, and support knowledge sharing and feedback
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 5 years of strong commercial experience in software engineering and/or application development
- Strong hands-on experience with C# and modern .NET
- Experience in any Javascript frontend technology, preferably React
- Practical experience developing applications using Microsoft Azure
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server and relational database design
- Strong understanding of SOLID principles and software design patterns
- Ability to apply separation of concerns, clean interfaces, and maintainable architecture
- Strong understanding of unit testing and automated testing
- Proficiency with Git and modern source-control practices
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment
- Experience with production monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and application support
- Understanding of software performance, reliability, security, scalability, and operational cost
- Strong technical and architectural judgement
- Ability to explain why a particular design or technical approach is appropriate and what trade-offs it introduces
- Ability to review, challenge, and improve existing code rather than simply accepting code because it works or passes tests
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Comfortable taking ownership of a feature or problem from development through production
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within a distributed engineering team
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related is advantageous/nice-to-have
- Experience with older .NET Framework applications is advantageous/nice-to-have
- Experience working with coding agents or AI-assisted development tools is advantageous/nice-to-have
- Experience establishing or improving engineering standards and development practices is advantageous/nice-to-have
- Experience working within distributed or multi-location engineering teams is advantageous/nice-to-have
