About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Leads the location logistics, materials, purchasing and production planning initiatives
- Assures adherence of safety specifications and processes in logistics areas using powered industrial trucks and manual material handling equipment
- Oversees Logistics/TMS support and handles carrier-related concerns
- Leads and supports material handling improvements
- Uses Lean manufacturing methodologies to drive continuous improvement
- Works with Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Planning to drive inventory reduction projects
- Ensures level loading of production planning processes for inventory optimization
- Supports development and maintenance of PFEP, replenishment, and material-flow strategies into standardized processes
- Measures and owns logistics KPIs such as inventory turns, material variance, and on-time fill rate
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve worker efficiency
- Interviews, hires, trains, and develops employees
- Partners with Manufacturing on production planning, raw and finished goods inventory management, and effective changeovers
- Leads communication collaboratively within site support functions and the sales team
- Conducts annual performance reviews and provides continual feedback
- Ensures processes control non-conforming materials and initiate corrective actions
- Ensures transport logistics, production logistics, and logistics planning activities are completed on time and within budget
- Manages project stages, deadlines, and customer and supplier requirements
- Manages supervisors and employees in material planning, receiving, inventory management, and shipping departments
- Oversees warehouse expectations and inventory
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree Required
- 5 years manufacturing and distribution management and logistics management experience required
- Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Customer service management skills, and supplier orientation organization and coordination skills
- Lean Manufacturing experience desired
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP or other preferred
- Customer and supplier orientation, organization and coordination skills
- Self-initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills necessary to work in a cooperative, positive team approach
- Ability to lead, train and mentor employees on a personal & professional level
- Experience or knowledge of raw materials planning/production scheduling process
- OSHA 10 Knowledge
- Occasional travel for corporate alignment and training may be required
