About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support activities to identify, plan, develop and implement health, safety and environmental programs
  • Help ensure compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Assist functions with HSE problem identification and solution implementation
  • Assist with disaster planning preparation, training and implementation
  • Assist the Environmental Management Representative with EMS coordination, ISO14001 compliance and third-party registration
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and assist with plant safety activities
  • Comprehend environmental legal and safety requirements applicable to the plants
  • Support the Environmental Management System, including government reports, environmental performance data, waste disposal, records and EMS Manual maintenance
  • Support environmental objectives and targets
  • Coordinate, monitor and facilitate health, safety and environment training
  • Understand OSHA and EMS record requirements
  • Identify and correct potential health, safety and environmental issues
  • Participate in safety committees
  • Enhance HSE communications
  • Perform activities in a positive and professional manner

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Business or a related field
  • Additional knowledge of and adherence to current Quality and Environmental Systems requirements related to the HSE role
  • Able to intern 20–29 hours per week
  • Able to use digital tools, including Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel and PowerBI
  • Able to present in front of leadership staff
