About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support warfare systems for US Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, including command and control, navigation, communications, surface-to-ship combat, countermeasures, fire control, integrated afloat networks, and special-purpose systems
  • Participate in and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alterations (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs)
  • Support the VTAT Lead in performing TAT duties for SCDs for Nimitz and Ford Class Aircraft Carriers
  • Keep the VTAT Lead informed of tasking and shifting priorities, and identify ways to improve efficiency and eliminate backlog
  • Provide weekly SCD Status Reports to the VTAT Lead for reporting to the Project Manager for Modernization (PMS 312E)
  • Provide updates in the VTAT Lead's absence
  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Ship Repair Facility, and other activities to resolve technical matters
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, and training materials and provide technical recommendations
  • Develop formal presentations to brief senior officials

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • 3+ years of experience with ship change documentation development and management or similar document control experience
  • Prior experience with the CVN 68 or CVN 78 Class system
  • Experience with U.S. Navy Vessels, preferably nuclear powered ships
  • Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical staff of all levels
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Current or active Secret clearance, or ability to obtain an Interim Secret before starting
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or communicate with co-workers, management, and customers via email, phone, or virtual communication
  • Ability to deliver presentations
