About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and outcomes for Mapon’s connected-device and vehicle-data ecosystem
- Define hardware, vehicle integrations, data capabilities, and technologies to invest in
- Shape new vehicle data and technical capabilities into scalable product opportunities
- Make portfolio and prioritization decisions across in-house hardware, third-party devices, integrations, and R&D initiatives
- Identify capability gaps, emerging technologies, and valuable new data sources
- Define how devices fit into the wider product portfolio across their full lifecycle
- Drive scalable practices for device configuration, firmware and software updates, compatibility, monitoring, and lifecycle management
- Own connectivity dependencies including profiles, SIM/eSIM, roaming, coverage, data consumption, and cost
- Coordinate Product, hardware, firmware, software engineering, Infrastructure, Operations, commercial teams, and external partners
- Lead build-vs-buy, vendor, and technology decisions based on strategic value, reliability, cost, scalability, and time to market
- Work with Product Managers to align connected-device and vehicle-data capabilities with Mapon’s broader product strategy
- Lead technical discussions, challenge assumptions, make trade-offs, and create alignment across organizational boundaries
- Explore emerging vehicles, hardware, connectivity, and data possibilities; validate them with engineers and decide which become future product capabilities
- Build relationships with hardware manufacturers, connectivity providers, OEMs, and technology partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience owning a product, platform, technology area, or complex technical capability
- Strong product thinking combined with deep technical understanding and curiosity
- Ability to set direction, develop a structured point of view, and turn it into a strategy and roadmap
- Ability to make prioritization decisions affecting multiple teams and products
- Ability to lead through influence across technical and commercial perspectives
- Ability to discuss architecture, technical constraints, and trade-offs with engineers
- Ability to translate business and product needs into technical capabilities and technical possibilities into business opportunities
- Systems thinking and understanding of dependencies between hardware, connectivity, data, software, operations, and customer products
- Ability to critically evaluate technology vendors
- Understanding that reliability, maintainability, lifecycle, operational complexity, and unit economics are product concerns
- Ability to make decisions with incomplete information and validate assumptions through R&D and experimentation
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent English
- Experience in telematics, IoT, large fleets of connected devices, embedded hardware or firmware, vehicle communication protocols, device configuration and update management, SIM/eSIM and cellular connectivity, hardware lifecycle management, platform capabilities or APIs, R&D-to-production initiatives, logistics, transportation, fleet management, mobility, or similar industries is a strong plus
