About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with various civil engineering tasks and assignments
  • Prepare for and conduct field inspections under the direction of higher-level engineers
  • Perform data reduction, reporting, engineering analyses, and design work
  • Prepare reports, studies, and related documents
  • Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff
  • Review engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents
  • Work under the direction and guidance of a Project Engineer or higher
  • Maintain current industry knowledge through professional organizations and other activities
  • Follow company safety, health, and environmental practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Driven and aspiring civil engineering student
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and communicate findings/results
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Higher-level mathematics, including trigonometry, algebra, geometry, and calculus, applied to surveying and engineering computations
  • 0–4 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of current engineering literature, trends, and developments
  • Knowledge of construction practices, including concrete, steel, carpentry, and welding
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Current medical certifications in bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen administration if performing fieldwork
  • Ability to travel within the continental United States if required
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Adherence to company safety, health, and environmental requirements
  • Preferred: curriculum focus in structural or geotechnical engineering
  • Preferred: AutoCAD proficiency
  • Preferred: engineering software experience
