About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review, understand, and utilize engineering plans, reports, studies, and related documents
  • Conduct structural inspections of bridges and waterfront structures
  • Assess structural condition, identify potential issues, and recommend repairs or maintenance
  • Use advanced inspection techniques and tools, including non-destructive testing methods
  • Prepare inspection reports, studies, photographs, diagrams, and written documentation
  • Assist with planning and execution of inspection projects
  • Coordinate site access, equipment, and personnel
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members
  • Stay current with industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians and team members
  • Apply knowledge of concrete, steel, carpentry, welding, and fabricating
  • Work under the guidance of a Project Engineer or higher-level engineer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Motivation, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be a self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to various inspection sites as required
  • High School Diploma
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural inspections or related activities
  • Commercial dive school certificate, US Navy dive training certificate, or ADCI dive certification card
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and technical writing
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, materials, and construction methods
  • Skilled in generating clear and concise reports
  • Proficiency in inspection tools and equipment, including non-destructive testing methods
  • Completion of the National Highway Institute Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course (FHWA-NHI-130055)
  • 10hr OSHA General Construction Course
  • Current Blood Borne Pathogens, First Aid, CPR, DAN O2 Administration certifications
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current ADCI "Fit to Dive" physical
  • Ability to work in rugged conditions and adverse weather
  • Ability and availability to work overtime and outside normal working hours when required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
