About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform land and hydrographic surveys in a professional, timely, and safe manner.
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and manage survey projects.
- Schedule and forecast survey projects.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate technical and management aspects of projects.
- Direct and perform land-based and hydrographic surveys, including single-beam, multi-beam, and sonar imaging surveys.
- Conduct on-site safety activities and direct and document safety meetings.
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures.
- Complete project administrative tasks and forms.
- Ensure survey equipment is in good working condition and report deficiencies.
- Operate vehicles, survey vessels, and associated support equipment.
- Assist with developing survey procedures.
- Assist with preparing project scopes and estimates.
- Plan and execute project quality control and assurance procedures.
- Produce project deliverables.
- Represent the organization professionally at field locations.
- Work collaboratively and maintain open communication while supporting Marine Solutions’ marine engineering and construction projects.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or certification.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in land surveying.
- Technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in the area of practice.
- High level leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
- Ability to work safely in varying weather and environmental conditions.
- Ability to operate independently while traveling.
- Knowledge of surveying equipment and software.
- Ability to travel up to 80% to project sites, including multi-day field assignments, frequent mobilization to remote locations, and overnight travel.
- Ability to work irregular schedules, including early mornings and occasional weekends.
- Ability to work on small vessels or along shorelines.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand up to eight hours or more.
- Must maintain current industry knowledge and expertise through active involvement in professional organizations and/or other activities.
- Travel inside the continental U.S. may be required.
- Must adhere to and participate in company safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Preferred: 4-year degree from an accredited college or university with a course in engineering or closely related field.
- Preferred: AutoCAD or MicroStation proficiency.
- Preferred: Certified Hydrographer.
- Preferred: 10hr OSHA General Construction Course.
