About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform land and hydrographic surveys, including single-beam, multi-beam, and sonar imaging surveys
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical and management aspects of survey projects
- Prepare project schedules and forecasts
- Execute and document fieldwork
- Produce project deliverables
- Conduct on-site safety activities and direct and document safety meetings
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures
- Complete project administrative tasks and forms
- Inspect survey equipment, ensure it is in good working condition, and report deficiencies
- Operate vehicles, survey vessels, and associated support equipment
- Assist with development of survey procedures
- Assist with preparation of project scopes and estimates
- Plan and execute project quality control and assurance procedures
- Travel to project sites and work at remote locations, on small vessels, and along shorelines
- Maintain professional representation of Marine Solutions at field locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or certification
- Minimum 4 years of experience in land surveying
- Technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in the area of practice
- High level leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to perform land-based and hydrographic surveys
- Knowledge of surveying equipment and software
- Ability to operate vehicles, survey vessels, and associated support equipment
- Ability to travel up to 80% to project sites, including multi-day field assignments, remote locations, and overnight travel
- Ability to work irregular schedules, including early mornings and occasional weekends
- Ability to work safely in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Ability to operate independently while traveling and represent the organization professionally
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to walk in rugged conditions, work in adverse weather, and stand for eight hours or more
- Ability to maintain current industry knowledge and expertise
- Required participation in company safety, health, and environmental practices
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
- Preferred: 4-year degree in engineering or closely related field
- Preferred: AutoCAD or MicroStation proficiency
- Preferred: Certified Hydrographer
- Preferred: 10-hour OSHA General Construction Course
