About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an ambassador and steward of the organization’s faith, mission, and purpose
  • Engage with companies, their employees, and the community
  • Visit company worksites regularly, typically on a weekly basis
  • Visit employees and their immediate families in hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement residences, funeral homes, private homes, and other locations
  • Provide confidential pastoral conversations and refer individuals to appropriate resources
  • Coordinate specialized assistance for employees and families with specific needs
  • Participate in the planning, officiating, or follow-up of funerals
  • Conduct correctional-facility visits as needed
  • Collaborate with companies in response to deaths, serious injuries, and other tragedies
  • Support laid-off or terminated employees during their career transitions
  • Facilitate spiritual enrichment activities
  • Provide documentation and other resources upon request
  • Represent companies to their clients when appropriate
  • Participate in new-employee orientation and introduce the chaplaincy service
  • Perform other duties requested by senior leadership, with authorization from the COO/EDO

  • Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian way of life and the values of MCC/MCHAP ministry
  • Fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible and its proper application
  • Profession of saving faith in Jesus Christ and active participation in a Bible-based church
  • Ability to interact professionally, diplomatically, patiently, and courteously with diverse groups
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and exercise sound judgment regarding sensitive and confidential matters
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Emotional stability when facing human suffering, emergencies, and stress
