About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Organize and analyze client data and check data for reasonability
- Perform calculations utilizing actuarial methodologies
- Share insights with senior colleagues and compile coherent, compelling explanations of client risk
- Perform basic calculations to assess risk exposures and predict outcomes in support of the reinsurance transaction process
- Assist with proposal presentations for existing and prospective clients
- Research industry-specific and specialty-related trends affecting reinsurance programs and calculations
- Leverage MetaRisk software to develop and optimize bespoke reinsurance transactions
- Evaluate impacts on clients’ capital, growth, and volatility objectives
- Work on one or two targeted projects advancing internal initiatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams providing strategic insights to major insurance companies
- Contribute to an inclusive work environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuance of bachelor’s or equivalent degree is required
- Open to all majors; preference to STEM-focused majors
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
- Good problem-solving skills and financial aptitude
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex technical analysis and concepts into easily understandable terms
- Curious and proactive mindset
- Ability to lead internal initiatives and research projects to completion
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with effective interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to be organized and detail oriented
- Familiarity with programming languages/visualization tools is a differentiator
- Interest in or progress towards completion of Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) exams is a differentiator
- Relevant prior work experience is a plus
- Successfully passed at least one Actuarial Exam is a plus
- Experience in a technical related role at a reinsurance broker, market, or catastrophe model software vendor is a differentiator
- Prior experience in relevant insurance/reinsurance field is a differentiator
- Understanding of the reinsurance industry and product lines is a differentiator
