About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the strategy and definition of Controllership objectives, including automation priorities
  • Ensure integrity of financial information under US GAAP and IFRS standards
  • Control cash flow
  • Communicate audit results and control issues
  • Review reconciliations, monthly closing, significant variances, journal entries, and general ledger accounts
  • Analyze revenue and expense reports and coordinate accruals
  • Perform variation and trend analysis for financial accounts, systems, statement line items, and disclosures
  • Provide guidance, training, and functional advice to less-experienced accountants
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, tax regulations, local GAAP, US GAAP, and local statutory regulations
  • Research accounting policy and reporting issues and prepare policy papers
  • Prepare financial statements, disclosures, and reconciliations
  • Support hiring, performance evaluation, and succession planning
  • Provide executive summaries on department performance and risks to the Controller
  • Collaborate with Controllership functions and FP&A teams
  • Own the SOX/internal control environment and remediate control gaps
  • Make final decisions on escalated issues
  • Manage KPI targets and team performance outcomes
  • Review and improve internal accounting processes and procedures
  • Assist with implementation of internal accounting policies and transitions between onshore and offshore teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in same roles, preferably within the insurance industry
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in team leadership and people management, preferably within the insurance industry
  • Fluency in English (Level C2) and Spanish
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience driving change management and process optimization in complex, fast-paced environments
