About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as primary investment consultant on medium and large clients and/or second on jumbo clients
  • Manage overall service delivery and solution design
  • Act as day-to-day client lead and ensure project requirements, solutions, and deliverables meet expectations
  • Work as part of a team on complex projects
  • Generate sales by expanding existing-client revenues and bringing in new clients
  • Sell and manage customized investment consulting services
  • Develop or contribute to intellectual capital
  • Lead or support consultants on client assignments
  • Enhance clients’ investment mission, implementation strategy, and execution strategy
  • Maximize intellectual capital in client portfolios and align scope and fees
  • Coordinate with Sales and Client Management teams to identify, develop, and close strategic sales opportunities
  • Provide investment advice on objectives, investment policy, manager selection, market and portfolio monitoring, risk management, and strategy adjustments
  • Create and evaluate investment strategies for large and jumbo market clients
  • Create project work plans and monitor timelines and budgets
  • Market and expand the Investment Consulting business and broader Mercer services
  • Grow retainer and project relationships through presentations, RFP responses, joint calling, and new-client acquisition
  • Maintain marketplace visibility through public speaking, professional societies, and trade-journal articles

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or another business-related area, with strong quantitative and analytical course content
  • AMIB Figura 3 certification
  • 8+ years’ experience in investment consulting with proven ability to sell and deliver investment consulting services to senior business leaders
  • Strong mathematical and financial skills and knowledge
  • Good knowledge of pensions industry, markets, investment managers, and relevant legislation
  • Specialized knowledge of investment products and services
  • Ability to consult on all products within the investment market and advise clients on appropriate choices
  • Highly analytical with a strategic mindset, excellent client-facing skills, and strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience leading projects and managing client expectations
  • Advanced skills in MS Office—Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong command of spoken and written English
  • Experience designing and developing ALM Models preferred
  • MBA, CFA, or CIPM preferred
