About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with reinsurance brokers to support portfolio strategy, client engagement and business-growth initiatives
  • Perform technical assessments of general insurance portfolios, including pricing adequacy, volatility analysis, retention optimisation and reinsurance structuring
  • Develop, validate and interpret analytical outputs using sound actuarial judgement and first-principles thinking
  • Build and review loss projections, stress scenarios and portfolio performance metrics to support reinsurance decisions
  • Translate technical analysis into commercially relevant insight and clear, market-facing narratives
  • Support the structuring and optimisation of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance solutions, including quota share, excess of loss and hybrid arrangements
  • Collaborate with brokers and regional stakeholders on client presentations, strategic discussions and renewal negotiations
  • Use internal tools, including MetaRisk and portfolio models, as well as bespoke analytical frameworks, to develop practical reinsurance solutions
  • Challenge assumptions, validate methodologies and ensure outputs are technically robust, commercially relevant and aligned with governance standards
  • Take ownership of deliverables within established peer-review and oversight frameworks
  • Contribute to analytics-framework development, process improvement and knowledge-sharing across regional teams
  • Build strong working relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers and internal stakeholders across IMEA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified or near-qualified actuary (FIAI, FIA, FCAS or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science or another quantitative discipline
  • Eight or more years of relevant actuarial, insurance or reinsurance analytics experience
  • Strong technical understanding of actuarial principles, portfolio analytics and reinsurance structures
  • Ability to independently assess analytical reasonableness, validate outputs and identify inconsistencies or flawed assumptions
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to connect technical findings to practical market outcomes
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership mindset and accountability for quality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight timelines
  • Collaborative working style with strong stakeholder-management skills
  • Experience with a reinsurance broker, reinsurer or insurer
  • Exposure to client-facing discussions, renewal support or reinsurance-placement strategy
  • Experience across multiple markets and product lines in a regional setting
  • Familiarity with R, Python, SQL, Alteryx, Power BI or similar analytical and visualisation tools
  • Ability to balance technical depth with commercial practicality and clear communication
