About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess student needs through comprehensive intake and needs assessments
  • Triage complex behavioral, wellbeing, safety, academic, and basic-needs situations
  • Coordinate referrals to campus departments, community organizations, and specialized support services
  • Conduct ongoing outreach and engagement to monitor progress and encourage follow-through
  • Track and monitor students at risk of discontinuing enrollment
  • Collaborate with campus, statewide, community, and external partners to remove barriers and improve outcomes
  • Respond to inquiries via email, text, telephone, virtual platforms, and in-person interactions
  • Provide presentations, training, and informational sessions
  • Participate in CARE Team meetings, committees, advisory groups, and retention initiatives
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed case records and communications
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist with safety plans
  • Coordinate welfare checks, emergency responses, and other interventions
  • Provide case updates, recommendations, and status reports
  • Ensure documentation, referrals, and services comply with policies, regulations, confidentiality requirements, and case management standards
  • Identify improvements to case management processes, workflows, support strategies, and service outcomes
  • Participate in professional development related to case management, behavioral intervention, threat assessment, student wellbeing, and higher education services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of experience in student services, case management, behavioral intervention, retention services, counseling support, social services, higher education, or a related field
  • Experience supporting students through complex situations requiring assessment, referral, coordination, and follow-up
  • Ability to assess student needs, identify barriers, and coordinate interventions and referrals
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and case management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism with sensitive situations
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain detailed records, prioritize responsibilities, and work amid interruptions and changing priorities
  • Knowledge of student support services, higher education operations, student wellbeing resources, and behavioral intervention principles
  • Ability to contribute to threat assessment processes and behavioral intervention strategies
  • Must complete Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 and present documents proving identity and authorization to work in the United States
  • Criminal history background check required for finalists
  • Must be reachable during business hours
  • Some duties may require work outside standard business hours during emergencies or peak operational periods
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience with behavioral intervention, CARE Teams, student conduct, threat assessment, or higher education case management preferred
