About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Continuously observe patients' activity and behavior to ensure a safe and comfortable environment
  • Communicate regularly with the RN and report changes in patient condition, problems, concerns, and visual observations
  • Report patient behaviors that could result in harm to self or others
  • Obtain vital signs and communicate findings to the RN as requested
  • Assist patients with hygiene needs
  • Assist the RN/CNA with linen changes and patient repositioning
  • Support the RN with accurate measurement and reporting of intake
  • Assist patients with nourishment and meals
  • Maintain a safe and orderly patient environment
  • Accompany patients to medical procedures and tests while maintaining observation
  • Ensure RN or designee coverage before leaving a patient unattended
  • Document duties performed in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand written orders
  • Ability to write reports in English
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire
  • Constant (67-100% of workday) use of arms and hands
  • Frequent (34-66% of workday) standing, walking, and sitting
  • Occasional (0-33% of workday) bending, stooping, and squatting
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Auditory and visual skills to include color determination
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Capacity to cope with difficult situations
  • Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals
