Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement scalable backend services, APIs, and data models supporting communications, experimentation, and personalization use cases
Deliver well-scoped projects end-to-end, from technical design through production rollout
Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to translate growth strategies into technical solutions
Contribute to architectural decisions with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
Produce clear technical documentation to support asynchronous collaboration
Follow established engineering standards around security, observability, testing, and performance
Operate with a high degree of autonomy in a delivery-focused senior engineering role
Contribute high-quality systems quickly in a cross-functional environment

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building backend systems in production environments
Proficiency in backend languages such as Python or Kotlin, or similar
Experience working with AWS or another major cloud provider
Solid understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
Proven ability to deliver complex backend features independently
Comfortable working remotely with cross-functional partners in an async-first environment
Ability to ramp up quickly in an existing codebase and deliver value within a short-term engagement
Familiarity with event-driven architectures and streaming systems, for example Kafka or Kinesis
Experience with experimentation platforms such as A/B testing or feature flags
Exposure to large-scale personalization, messaging, or growth-focused systems
