About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead design decisions and mentor a team through fast, iterative delivery cycles
Collaborate with Product, UX, software engineering, and QA teams
Interpret problem statements and scope “Happy Path” solutions
Prototype and iterate toward acceptance criteria as solutions develop
Work cross-functionally in a Spec-Driven Development environment using AI-assisted tooling
Use structured prompt engineering when a pure spec-first approach is not practical
Build sophisticated and intuitive user interfaces that scale
Mentor junior developers on engineering fundamentals and AI-assisted/Spec-Driven Development workflows
Establish frontend coding standards, guidelines, and review practices for AI-generated code
Implement software using appropriate design patterns and best practices
Align with QA on verification strategy
Implement test fixtures, acceptance tests, and unit tests to drive development
Contribute leadership skills to the broader Engineering department

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of experience
Java full-stack experience
Hands-on experience with React and Redux
Strong data modeling and schema design skills
Production database architecture experience with MySQL and SQL Server
Experience with AWS and distributed systems in production environments
Production experience with Docker
Experience in Agile and/or Spec-Driven Development environments
Experience with REST and JSON
Experience working directly with QA and product management teams
Experience working with diverse employee bases across remote and local environments
Experience understanding and navigating legacy codebases
Comfortable using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code
Experience with JavaScript unit testing libraries is a plus
Experience collaborating with web designers and following style guidelines
Experience with TeamCity and GitHub
In-depth knowledge of Agile and modern iterative delivery methodologies, including Spec-Driven Development
Expertise in root cause analysis, performance diagnostics, and issue resolution in cloud-based or enterprise environments
Familiarity with Kubernetes and microservices architectures is nice to have
CKAD certification is nice to have
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is nice to have
Exposure to agentic/AI-assisted development workflows or contract-first/spec-driven practices is nice to have
Experience working with EXT for front-end engineering is nice to have
Ability to maintain encouraging relationships within and across teams
Comfortable with ambiguity and self-directed problem-solving
Strong communication skills
Excellent time management skills
