About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle the investigation and litigation of complex matters involving alleged violations of the Massachusetts False Claims Act
  • Obtain documents and take testimony through civil investigative demands
  • Interview witnesses
  • Analyze evidence
  • Draft memoranda
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Handle pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, and trial when applicable
  • Assess, investigate, and litigate sealed whistleblower or qui tam actions
  • Collaborate with whistleblowers and their attorneys
  • Coordinate with state, local, and federal authorities on challenging and complex enforcement matters

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission in short order
  • Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date
  • Candidates not yet admitted may be hired as Counsel and must pass the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date
  • At least three (3) years of complex litigation experience is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication and advocacy skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making
  • Effective organizational skills, time management abilities, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Significant interest in working in a public interest enforcement environment
  • Previous experience handling matters involving fraud and/or the federal or Massachusetts False Claims Act is strongly desired but not required
  • Connection to the people and communities served and interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment
