About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead budgeting, cash flow management, treasury operations, reserve management, financial forecasting, investments, and financial performance monitoring
  • Develop financial scenarios, assess risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations to the Executive Director
  • Support annual planning and prioritize resource allocation
  • Monitor cost structures, margins, indirect cost recovery, administrative expenses, and financial sustainability
  • Assess the financial feasibility, costs, and sustainability of programs, projects, and proposals
  • Oversee liquidity, reserves, assets, and investments
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with tax, accounting, legal, and contractual requirements
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and address recommendations
  • Ensure consistent procurement and contracting processes for vendors and independent contractors
  • Ensure accurate financial close processes, reporting, and analysis
  • Define financial metrics and information requirements with BI and technology colleagues
  • Advise program teams and other functions on costs, margins, pricing, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Lead the administration and finance team
  • Maintain continuity during the leadership transition
  • Improve administrative and financial processes through simplification, automation, and reduced manual work
  • Collaborate with Technology and Platforms to define requirements, prioritize improvements, and support implementation
  • Represent United Way Colombia in global and regional forums when required
  • Assess financial, tax, contractual, and legal implications of regional and global projects for Colombia

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience with increasing responsibility in administration and finance
  • At least five years of experience leading teams and finance functions
  • Direct responsibility for budgeting, cash flow, financial planning, audits, and compliance
  • Experience as a Finance Director, Director of Administration and Finance, Finance Manager, Head of Finance, CFO, or equivalent role within a mid-sized organization
  • Experience independently managing financial resources and working closely with an Executive Director, General Manager, or Board of Directors
  • Hands-on experience in budgeting, treasury operations, financial close processes, audits, procurement, contracts, and vendor management
  • Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Cash flow, treasury, and reserve management
  • Financial analysis and scenario planning
  • Profit and loss analysis, cost structures, and margins
  • Internal controls and risk management
  • Internal and external audits
  • Legal, contractual, and financial compliance
  • Procurement, contracting, and vendor management
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial management tools
  • Experience with ERP, CRM, and BI tools
  • Ability to use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve administrative and financial processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with financial and accounting ERP systems
  • Experience with reporting and BI tools such as Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency with collaboration and work management tools
  • Spanish: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
