About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Pair with RTL, DV, and PD engineers to observe coding-agent failures and identify and ship context, tool, or harness improvements
- Build tools for agent-generated coding workflows, such as tools that break large diffs into reviewable pieces
- Build the AI tooling evaluation loop by extracting bugs from repository history and replaying them against different agent configurations
- Use evaluation results to decide which agent configurations and tooling improvements to adopt
- Work side-by-side with hardware engineers and learn how RTL design, DV, and PD operate at MatX
- Codify existing effective practices and build missing workflows across the hardware/software stack
Requirements
What you’ll need- RTL design, design verification (DV), or physical design (PD) fluency, or ability to build it quickly
- Willingness and ability to work on RTL, DV, and PD problems daily
- Heavy use of coding agents and strong judgment about their permissions and verification
- Experience building engineering workflows that other engineers adopted and kept, including methodology, flow automation, review tooling, or agent harnesses
- Ability to identify when LLM agents confidently produce incorrect results and modify their harness in response
- Ability to perform job functions in compliance with U.S. export control laws without obtaining a license from U.S. export control authorities
- U.S. export-control eligibility as applicable to access restricted information
- Familiarity with Bluespec or another high-level HDL, or architecture and performance simulators (bonus)
- Experience building tooling or automation for chip design flows (bonus)
