Key responsibilities & impact

Define end-to-end QA strategy and architecture for the 5G Session Management Function (SMF)
Design test coverage for PDU session lifecycle, including creation, modification, release, and error handling
Validate SMF interfaces and interactions with AMF, UPF, PCF, and UDM using SBA, HTTP/2, and REST
Ensure compliance with 3GPP specifications for SMF, QoS, charging, and policy control
Drive automation-first functional, API, and regression testing integrated with CI/CD pipelines
Architect performance, scalability, and latency testing for CPS, session scale, and QoS flows
Lead resiliency, failover, and chaos testing for cloud-native SMF deployments
Define network slicing and QoS flow validation scenarios
Ensure security testing for signaling, APIs, and data protection
Standardize test environments using Kubernetes, containers, and cloud platforms
Define quality gates, KPIs, and release exit criteria for SMF deliveries
Mentor QA engineers and review test designs and automation frameworks
Collaborate with Product, Development, DevOps, and Architecture teams to embed quality early

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience or knowledge of 5G Session Management Function (SMF)
Knowledge of PDU session lifecycle: creation, modification, release, and error handling
Experience validating SMF interfaces and interactions with AMF, UPF, PCF, and UDM using SBA, HTTP/2, and REST
Knowledge of 3GPP specifications covering SMF, QoS, charging, and policy control
Experience with functional, API, and regression testing integrated with CI/CD pipelines
Experience with performance, scalability, latency, resiliency, failover, and chaos testing
Knowledge of network slicing and QoS flow validation
Experience with security testing for signaling, APIs, and data protection
Experience standardizing test environments using Kubernetes, containers, and cloud platforms
Knowledge of quality gates, KPIs, and release exit criteria
Experience reviewing test designs and automation frameworks
Ability to collaborate with Product, Development, DevOps, and Architecture teams
