About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage daily cash flow, banking relationships and liquidity to optimize the Firm’s financial position
  • Oversee cash forecasting and debt management in accordance with Firm policies
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and treasury policies
  • Act as a signing officer on all operating accounts
  • Oversee management and administration of bank accounts, banking platforms and the corporate credit card program
  • Oversee management and reconciliation of client trust accounts in compliance with applicable law society rules, regulations and Firm policies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for trust fund administration, segregation and reporting
  • Liaise with auditors, regulators and clients regarding trust account matters
  • Respond to trust audits, inquiries and quarterly and annual reports
  • Ensure timely and accurate trust account reconciliations and reporting to leadership
  • Supervise the accounts payable team across all offices
  • Monitor and improve efficiency, internal controls and regulatory compliance
  • Operate and administer Concur Solutions for expense reimbursements
  • Lead, mentor and develop the finance team
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Prepare and present trust, treasury and accounts payable reports to firm leadership and management committees
  • Collaborate with practice groups and office administrators on finance projects and initiatives
  • Provide client services to lawyers and staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree and accounting designation (i.e. CPA Designation or equivalent)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role in a professional services environment
  • Experience in a professional services environment, preferably in the legal industry
  • Experience with legal financial systems (e.g., Aderant, Elite or similar) is preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are required
  • Familiarity with automation tools and digital payment platforms is an asset
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-office environment
  • Experience in a national or multi-office law firm environment is preferred
  • Bilingual French and English is required
