About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own shared platform capabilities including API surface management, common service APIs, Kafka event streaming, schema governance, consumer SLAs, and multi-region reliability
  • Provide leadership oversight for the Integrations team and key network customers and stakeholders
  • Build and operate the Subscription Portal for external partner onboarding, API credential provisioning, documentation, and integrations
  • Define the partner integration lifecycle and roadmap for the Subscription Portal
  • Measure partner adoption, time-to-first-call, and integration health
  • Own the Internal Developer Portal, including service catalog, Golden Path templates, onboarding automation, and tooling discoverability
  • Make the Internal Developer Portal the single pane of glass for developer context
  • Integrate AI agents and agentic workflows into external and internal portals
  • Establish GitOps as the source of truth for infrastructure, configuration, application state, and portal content
  • Champion AI-assisted engineering tooling such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot
  • Define multi-year strategy for shared platform capabilities, developer portals, and partner engagement
  • Align engineering capacity with the FY27 roadmap and DC exit commitments
  • Lead and develop two engineering teams across multiple disciplines
  • Establish test-first, GitOps-first, AI-native tooling, and observability standards
  • Drive DORA metrics as team health indicators
  • Partner with Core Platform, Reliability, Product Security, and McKesson Technology on platform architecture, security, networking, DNS, firewalls, and Kafka dependencies
  • Represent the external engagement surface in SAFe PI Planning, ART sync, and executive program reviews
  • Deliver Subscription Portal MVP, Internal Developer Portal capabilities, Kafka standards, unified engagement strategy, and measurable toil reduction milestones

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Typically 13+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation experience
  • Experience leading platform engineering, shared services, or developer experience teams at scale
  • Track record of building platforms adopted by multiple product teams
  • Deep fluency in GitOps principles and tooling, including Infrastructure as Code and Terraform
  • Experience building or operating internal developer portals such as Backstage, Port, Cortex, or equivalent
  • Experience with external developer-facing API products
  • Strong distributed systems and event streaming background
  • Production-scale Kafka or Confluent Platform experience
  • Experience leading and developing engineering managers
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed enterprise environment with shared infrastructure dependencies
  • Executive-level communication skills and ability to present roadmaps, trade-offs, and investment asks
  • Preferred: production-grade AI-native platforms, agentic workflows, AI-assisted developer tooling, or LLM-integrated platform services
  • Preferred: healthcare technology, regulated environments, or compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST
  • Preferred: Azure, AKS, and Azure-native platform ecosystem experience
  • Preferred: SAFe or other scaled agile framework familiarity
  • Preferred: external developer portals or API marketplaces
  • Preferred: prior authorization, pharmacy, or healthcare interoperability exposure, including FHIR, NCPDP, or HL7
