About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle problem commercial loans, including C&I and Commercial Real Estate credits
  • Work with the Retail Special Assets group when action is necessary on consumer loans
  • Oversee REO properties as needed
  • Facilitate resolution of loans in default or with other high-risk characteristics
  • Assess issues with problem loans and independently develop and recommend resolution strategies
  • Identify the most cost-effective resolution for loans and REO properties: retain, exit, or liquidate
  • Underwrite loan modifications and prepare periodic reports for assigned portfolio loans
  • Develop and implement repayment plans for problem loans
  • Negotiate loan modification terms with clients
  • Recommend risk-rating changes and charge-offs
  • Present recommendations and action plans to senior management to minimize further credit losses
  • Serve as primary contact with third parties for monitoring, servicing, restructuring, collecting, liquidating, and pursuing legal action involving the problem loan portfolio
  • Adhere to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, guidance, and Bank policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7 years of experience in special assets management including both C&I and CRE loans involved in litigation and bankruptcy required
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy and litigation processes
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and other internal/external parties
  • Understanding of risk grading and accounting concepts
  • Strong knowledge of current regulatory requirements for loan restructuring and foreclosure, particularly in California and Washington
  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly collaborative work style
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to explain complex situations and resolutions to a broad audience
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, administration, policy and procedures
  • Proficiency with Windows suite of programs, including Excel, Word, Access, and Lotus Notes
  • A 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree is preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Ability to meet stated physical and vision requirements, with reasonable accommodations available
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
