About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Package existing AI systems for rapid deployment across portfolio companies
Connect AI systems to company tools and data, or redesign team workflows
Work with portfolio CEOs to understand business needs and identify AI opportunities
Build prototypes quickly, test them with real customers, and iterate based on results
Explain AI systems in plain language and drive user adoption
Run experiments across paid advertising, funnels, lifecycle email, and customer support
Determine whether experiment results are meaningful or noise
Hand off work requiring heavier backend development to the engineering team
Take ownership of a business line and drive growth with built tools
Potentially run one or more mostly autonomous businesses within Mechanism

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience in growth or product on a lean team
Experience running campaigns, outreach, or experiments
Experience owning metrics such as revenue, CAC, or LTV
Experience building AI systems that people use to solve business problems
Ability to diagram AI system components and explain architectural decisions
Ability to write and ship code with AI tools
Strong systems thinking; a specific programming language is not required
Side projects and demonstrated curiosity about AI
Ability to learn new tools quickly
Comfort with ambiguity and frequently changing priorities
Ability to communicate complex ideas simply with CEOs and operators
Experience at startups or on small teams, ideally in DTC or consumer
Willingness to overlap with US Eastern Time for most of the workday
Willingness to work beyond a standard 9-to-5 schedule
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
