About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate scientific and operational workflows and identify important problems
- Turn ambiguous user needs into useful product scope
- Design and implement frontend interfaces, backend services, data models and integrations
- Carry products from prototype into daily use
- Build processing, validation and delivery capabilities for complex data workflows
- Develop tools for reviewing scientific information, assessing quality and investigating or correcting errors
- Collaborate with engineering and machine-learning specialists on processing, quality assurance and AI-assisted annotation
- Test, deploy, monitor and debug software in production
- Improve reliability, usability and operating cost as usage grows
- Work directly with scientists, operators and technical teams to understand problems and ship software and data products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Independently shipping full-stack products from an ambiguous problem through launch and sustained use
- Strong frontend, backend and data-modeling fundamentals
- Experience with data processing and integrations
- Scientific fluency gained through bench work or sustained software development with experimental scientists
- Product judgment and ability to make technical tradeoffs
- Hands-on responsibility for testing, deployment, monitoring and production debugging
- Experience using AI tools as a core part of day-to-day work is asked in the application form
- Work authorization for the location where the role is posted
- Scientific software used in everyday laboratory or research work is a plus
- Founder or early engineering experience is a plus
- Experience with instrument integrations, experimental data systems or complex dataset review tools is a plus
- Experience building practical AI features for inspecting, validating and correcting outputs is a plus
