About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and evolve COS REST APIs and event schemas using OpenAPI and API Gateway
Enable contract-first integrations and decouple consumers from the Order Management platform
Develop and orchestrate event-driven order workflows with Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Temporal
Support basket-to-order, payment/checkout, digital activation, fulfillment, and transport management workflows
Build and maintain data persistence and propagation
Model order data in Protobuf, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
Drive real-time synchronization to corporate systems
Support analytics via Pub/Sub to BigQuery
Maintain strong data quality and PII safeguards
Operate the platform on GCP and Kubernetes using GitOps with Flux
Monitor and troubleshoot production systems
Optimize platform performance and scalability
Manage incidents and continually improve SLAs, security, and resilience
Collaborate within cross-functional technology teams and with business stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience building event-driven, distributed systems
Proficiency in Kotlin on the JVM
Solid Java skills
Familiarity with Python or TypeScript is a plus
Proven experience designing contract-first RESTful APIs with OpenAPI
Experience with API versioning, error models, and API gateway policies such as Kong or Apigee
Practical experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and PostgreSQL
Experience with schema design, transactions, and performance tuning in high-throughput environments
Experience with cloud-native operations on GCP with Kubernetes and Terraform
Experience with GitOps using Flux
Experience with CI/CD and observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing
Production troubleshooting experience
Integration expertise using synchronous and asynchronous patterns such as Kafka and Google Pub/Sub
Strong focus on reliability, security, and compliance for customer order data, including SLAs, auditability, and PII/GDPR
Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
