About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead finance and accounting, including monthly close, controls, audit, tax, and cash management
Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, unit economics, and the board reporting package
Own the CAC and payback model behind marketing and sales spend and go-to-market operating metrics
Build the internal finance team and insource the function from the current outsourced model
Lead capital strategy and readiness for a future capital event, including runway and scenario planning, banking relationships, cap table, and diligence readiness
Own KPI definitions and weekly and monthly business review cadence
Turn the plan into accountability across the company
Provide dotted-line oversight of revenue operations, people operations, billing and collections, and coordination with outside counsel
Recruit, develop, and retain the finance team
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and leadership team
Work across Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Customer Success
Work closely with the board and Ballast Point Partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of progressive finance experience in software or recurring-revenue businesses
Senior finance experience at companies in the $5M to $50M revenue range
Fluent in SaaS metrics: ARR, net and gross retention, cohorts, CAC payback, and unit economics
Comfortable with usage-based and consumption revenue and the required revenue recognition
Experience inside a venture- or growth-equity-backed company
Experience leading finance work directly without a large support structure
Comfortable being the only finance person in house before there is a team
Experience with an exit or significant capital raise from the company side
Experience preparing a company for diligence, including data room, quality of earnings, and clean historicals
Experience owning board reporting and investor materials end to end
Credibility with institutional investors
Experience taking a finance function from outsourced to in-house, including systems, processes, and hiring, or equivalent experience inside a fast-growing company
Ability to provide operational support and thinking to drive growth and scale, including strategic thinking, operating systems, and KPIs
Experience owning an operating cadence: KPI definitions, business reviews, and accountability against the plan
Experience in healthcare, health tech, or another regulated industry is a plus, not a requirement
Creative, entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action
Ability to communicate simply and clearly across the organization, leadership team, and board
Ability to form and defend an independent view of the business
Ability to drive both ARR and EBITDA and understand profitability
