About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS agreements, master services agreements, order forms, statements of work, data processing agreements, NDAs, and other commercial contracts
  • Advise on customer, vendor, partner, and technology transactions
  • Support sales and procurement teams throughout contracting, including reviewing deviations from standard terms and proposing solutions
  • Advise on privacy, data protection, confidentiality, information security, and customer-data use
  • Support contract interpretation, implementation questions, disputes, and day-to-day commercial matters
  • Assist with legal issues involving product development, content, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and digital services
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting SaaS, media monitoring, content licensing, privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence, and digital services
  • Improve legal processes, templates, playbooks, and contract-management practices with internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate with external counsel when specialist advice is required
  • Contribute to legal and compliance projects across the Australian and wider Asia-Pacific business
  • Promote a practical, risk-aware, and commercially effective approach to legal support
  • Provide clear and commercially useful advice to internal stakeholders
  • Manage contracts efficiently while protecting key legal and commercial interests
  • Identify risks early and escalate matters appropriately
  • Build trusted relationships with Sales, Procurement, Product, and other business teams
  • Contribute to scalable legal processes, templates, and contracting guidance
  • Report to the Head of Legal for APAC as part of the wider global legal team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor Degree (or equivalent) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law
  • 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience
  • Some in-house experience, preferably in technology, SaaS, media monitoring and/or intelligence, publishing, data, or other digital-services businesses
  • Excellent negotiation, legal drafting, and communication skills
  • Experience advising on SaaS contracting issues, including intellectual property, data use, privacy, security, liability, indemnities, and termination rights
  • Familiarity with media monitoring, content licensing, data licensing, or similar content- or rights-based commercial issues
  • Ability to monitor regulatory and local law developments and translate practical implications into actionable guidance
  • Ability to work independently and support sales and internal stakeholders using sound judgment, legal analysis, pragmatic problem solving, and consideration of business goals and risk tolerance
  • Ability to manage a high volume of legal matters in a timely and effective manner
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including explaining legal issues to non-lawyers
  • Knowledge of doing business globally across organizational, functional, and geographic boundaries
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Team-oriented approach with commitment to client/customer service and professionalism
  • Fluency in written and verbal business English
  • Desirable: enterprise sales or strategic customer negotiations experience
  • Desirable: international contracting and cross-border data protection experience
  • Desirable: experience in a global or matrixed organization
  • Desirable: contract lifecycle management systems and legal operations experience
  • Desirable: technology procurement, information security, or artificial intelligence-related matters
