About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evolve the existing Flutter app for iOS and Android, focusing on UX and usability for people aged 50+
  • Design and build Node.js APIs and services for new features
  • Help build new and adjacent products, including products with AI capabilities
  • Work closely with medical and product colleagues and contribute to product decisions
  • Maintain code review, testing, and engineering standards appropriate for a regulated medical product
  • Optionally shape cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and deployment
  • Own features end to end on a small engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Demonstrated shipped software; show something you built
  • Flutter/Dart skills, or proven ability to ramp up quickly from React Native or native mobile
  • Working knowledge of Node.js and building APIs; not mobile-only
  • Ability to work remotely and asynchronously on a tiny distributed team
  • At least four hours of daily overlap with 09:00–17:00 Berlin time (CET/CEST)
  • Comfortable working from underspecified problems and making technical decisions
  • Self-directed, structured way of working with substantial ownership and little supervision
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Interest or experience in software security, accessibility, building for older users, DiGA, medical devices, regulated environments, startup or consultancy work, and/or DevOps are nice to have, not required
