About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and oversee construction activities, including budgeting, bid solicitation, project scope identification, procurement, field management, execution, and closeout
- Ensure projects are completed safely, within schedule and budget, and according to company policies and procedures
- Lead and direct Field/Project Managers under direct supervision
- Coordinate construction activities with project teams, subcontractors, property managers, client vendors, equipment providers, building departments, architects, engineers, and other entities
- Maintain accurate records, daily logs, photos, RFIs, and supporting documents
- Provide timely feedback on schedules, improvement areas, and project issues
- Communicate project status consistently by phone, email, and in person
- Assist with project plans, goals, and performance evaluation
- Manage client satisfaction, project profitability, and successful execution of the team’s project workload
- Maintain relationships with clients, owners, landlords, property management, vendors, architects, engineers, and other parties
- Coordinate site deliveries and material receipts
- Control equipment use and costs; resolve project problems and conflicts
- Lead procurement decisions for profitable project outcomes
- Identify resource requirements and coordinate field supervision assignments
- Oversee team payroll and associated overhead costs
- Perform site visits to maintain and improve quality and safety standards
- Participate in recruitment, termination, and annual performance evaluations of reporting staff
- Present corrective action reports for non-compliance with company policies and procedures
- Collaborate with Business Development on new client opportunities, client demonstrations, sales meetings, trade shows, and RFP responses
- Act as primary client escalation point and develop ongoing business relationships
- Ensure weekly safety meetings and enforcement of safety policies
- Monitor field expenses and general condition costs against budgets
- Manage the team’s book of business and sales versus gross profits WIP
- Prepare for and participate in monthly WIP meetings and program/project meetings
- Ensure schedule, budget, quality, contractual obligations, and project timelines are met
- Collaborate on bid solicitation, coordination, estimating, project awards, and profitability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong technical and communication skills (written/verbal)
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Project and Word
- Organized, with strong ability to manage multiple ongoing activities
- Client Service oriented
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Team Leader
- Strong ability to manage, direct, motivate others
- A "Do whatever it takes" attitude
- Self-motivated
- Supervisory experience with Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Construction Coordinators
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and procedures
- BS OR equivalent related field experience
- 3+ years of field experience in a supervisory capacity
- 5+ years of construction management experience
