About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Room patients, collect assessment data, and prepare patients according to specific needs
- Collect patient data and document in the medical record
- Prepare and maintain patient charts
- Assist in examinations, treatments, and other clinic procedures
- Administer injections and medications as ordered and directed
- Review physician's orders, lab requests, and follow-up needs with patients
- Assist with laboratory procedures, screening tests, and QI projects
- Answer telephone inquiries or direct callers to appropriate personnel for triage
- Document according to standards of care
- Provide patient treatments as ordered
- Coordinate patient referrals through insurance and other physician offices
- Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the provider or RN
- Perform clinic LPN duties within the LPN scope of practice
- Assist with clinic projects, assignments, and nursing initiatives
- Provide feedback for evaluation or participate in peer review
- Assist with preparation of staff for surveys
- Monitor compliance with clinic initiatives as assigned
- Administer specified medications and nursing interventions as allowed by policy, procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act
- Reinforce patient teaching provided by the Provider and RN
- Provide basic healthcare instruction to patients and families
- Perform EKGs and simple lab tests as needed
- Perform venipuncture to collect blood specimens
- Participate in QA&I
- Order and maintain supplies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.
- Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
- Licensed as an LPN in the State of Practice
- Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
- Experience in clinical setting preferred.
