About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide patient-centered care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing techniques, policies, standards of care, and state laws/practice act
- Document according to standards of care
- Develop and execute individualized patient care plans, including patient and family instruction
- Teach and support patient and family education
- Resolve systems breakdowns and engage others in providing solutions
- Participate in department or unit performance improvement activities and shared governance
- Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments
- Use critical thinking to support patient safety and patient experience and escalate issues appropriately
- Participate in professional nursing continuum, practice activities, decisions, and peer review
- Support continuous learning, growth, and evidence-based practice guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- ADN required upon hire; BSN preferred
- May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines)
- Licensed as an RN in state of practice
- Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days
- Other certifications per department requirements, such as ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP
- Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring)
- Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check
- Must be able to follow written/oral instructions
- May include color blind test (per department guidelines)
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
