About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and grow a team spanning configuration management, development assurance, process assurance, and software quality assurance
- Own configuration management and partner with engineering and flight test leaders to develop, maintain, and improve processes
- Standardize and deploy core engineering processes in compliance with established policies, guidance, and certification best practices
- Establish and run compliance auditing programs for engineering process documents and execution
- Represent process assurance with certification authorities, designated engineering representatives, and customer quality teams
- Serve as primary contact for DCMA and government quality assurance representatives on military programs
- Drive continuous process improvement based on audit findings, lessons learned, and regulatory guidance
- Lead root-cause and corrective-action analysis to close audit findings and prevent recurrence
- Report process health, audit outcomes, open findings, and improvement roadmap to the VP of Airworthiness & Certification
- Build scalable and repeatable process frameworks supporting organizational growth
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field
- 12+ years of experience in aerospace systems, software, or hardware development
- Significant experience in configuration management, process assurance, and development assurance
- Direct working knowledge of completed certification programs involving configuration management, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A/B, and ARP4761A
- Working knowledge of software/tool qualification (DO-330)
- 5+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management across multiple technical disciplines
- Experience developing, auditing, or defending engineering process documentation for regulatory or customer compliance
- Track record of successful internal or external audits, including System Reviews and FAA Stage of Involvement per Order 8110.4C/8110.49
- Working knowledge of military airworthiness processes, FAA certification frameworks, systems safety, and quality management standards including SAE EIA-649B, MIL-STD-882E, and AS9100D
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain security clearance
- Experience with ASTM F3230 and F3061, PLM tools, problem reporting tools, autonomous or unmanned aviation systems, startup process scaling, CMMI appraisals, or airworthiness cybersecurity certification are nice to have
- Active clearance, with TS preferred, is a nice to have
