About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the Registered Nurse in developing plans for health-related issues in the school environment
- Perform healthcare procedures
- Interact with Memphis City Schools students, staff, and parents
- Coordinate with the Memphis and Shelby County Health Department
- Engage with community resources, centers, churches, physicians, and clinics
- Collaborate with Associates in the Partnership, Le Bonheur Education Department, LEAD, Le Bonheur Center for Children and Parents, Physicians, and Nursing Department
- Assess student and/or faculty health and safety needs under RN supervision
- Model behavior consistent with MLH Mission, Vision, and Values
- Commute to different sites throughout the day
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical Degree or Diploma Nursing
- 1–3 years of clinical healthcare (acute or hospital) experience
- Tennessee Licensed Practical Nurse license from the Tennessee Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- Ability to assess health and safety needs of students and/or faculty under RN direction and supervision
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Good balance and coordination
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations
- Ability to commute to different sites throughout the day
- Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently
- Close visual acuity, including color, depth perception, and field of vision
- Ability to tolerate frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact and exposure to body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials
