About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Treat neuromuscular and developmental dysfunction caused by disease, trauma, congenital anomaly, or prior therapeutic process
  • Seek and obtain sufficient information to function effectively
  • Provide individual patient/client services and determine priority occupational therapy needs
  • Assess and evaluate therapeutic, rehabilitative, and functional status
  • Evaluate home environments and assess the need for adaptive equipment or improved function
  • Participate in developing the total plan of care
  • Direct the occupational therapy treatment plan of care
  • Re-evaluate patient/client progress and revise the plan of care as necessary
  • Initiate occupational therapy programs
  • Instruct personnel, family members, and caregivers in applicable treatment phases and program goals
  • Instruct patients/clients and family/caregivers in using and caring for therapeutic appliances and/or prosthetic devices
  • Communicate patient/client status to supervisory personnel
  • Collaborate with physicians and team members to develop, implement, and support patient care plans
  • Complete and maintain accurate clinical notes regarding evaluations and goal attainment
  • Observe patients/clients for treatment reactions or condition changes and report changes as necessary
  • Assist caregivers, families, and healthcare personnel in providing continuity of care
  • Complete and submit clinical documentation weekly according to agency guidelines
  • Represent the company positively and professionally
  • Report on time and participate in mandated agency activities such as in-services
  • Travel frequently to complete home health visits in private homes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university
  • Successful completion of an internship under the direction of an OT
  • Passed the entry-level certification exam as validated by NBCOT/AOTCB/AOTA
  • Obtained state registration
  • Successful completion of appropriate screening tests with passing rate
  • Professional experience required per state regulations
  • Good observation skills and judgment
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Current CPR certification per state regulations
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, stop, bend, kneel, walk, balance, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms
  • Vision and hearing capabilities within normal limits, with or without aid
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds or more if applicable
  • Ability to perform the anticipated level of physical assistance required to provide safe client care
