About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and execute critical large-scale projects at customer locations, including ports and rail yards
- Take full ownership of job sites
- Coordinate and execute assembly and installation of gantry cranes and other material handling systems
- Read and interpret complex electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Diagnose, repair, and commission sophisticated systems and components
- Perform preventative maintenance and comprehensive equipment inspections according to OEM specifications
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer equipment requests
- Deliver technical expertise and customer service
- Uphold and enforce railroad, safety, health, and environmental regulations and policies
- Work on intermodal heavy equipment projects from assembly through complex troubleshooting and repair
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- 10+ years of relevant heavy equipment field experience, preferably with gantry cranes or similar large-scale material handling machinery
- Deep knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies
- Strong crane signaling experience
- Ability to work independently and meet demanding deadlines
- Ability to maintain meticulous, accurate records while on-site
- Ability to climb, twist, bend, squat, and kneel for long periods
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders/scaffolding
- Ability to lift parts up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 pounds
- Ability to travel up to 90% to customer sites with frequent overnight stays
- Ability to obtain an E-Rail security clearance badge
- Accurate hand/eye coordination, finger dexterity, and hand strength
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment, and machinery
