About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end tests for Appian applications
  • Validate Appian interfaces, records, process models, business rules, reports, integrations, plugins, and custom components
  • Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into detailed test cases and traceable test evidence
  • Create and manage test data across development, testing, staging, migration, and production-support environments
  • Document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution and retesting
  • Support formal testing, user acceptance testing, and release-readiness decisions
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated regression and integration test suites
  • Analyze failed automated tests and distinguish application defects from test-script, data, pipeline, and environmental issues
  • Stabilize unreliable tests and improve automated execution consistency and maintainability
  • Integrate automated testing into Jenkins or comparable CI/CD pipelines
  • Maintain automation code through Git or GitHub source-control workflows
  • Support containerized test execution using Docker or comparable technologies
  • Connect automated test results with Jira, Xray, or comparable test-management tools
  • Review source-to-target mappings, data-transformation requirements, interface specifications, and business rules
  • Develop and execute SQL queries to validate source and target data
  • Compare record counts, field values, relationships, statuses, dates, and calculated values before and after migration or integration processing
  • Validate data completeness, accuracy, uniqueness, referential integrity, and compliance with business rules
  • Support mock migrations, cutover activities, rollback testing, and post-migration validation
  • Verify Appian reports, interfaces, records, and integrations with migrated and integrated data
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning, quality reviews, and retrospectives
  • Provide status updates on test execution, automation health, migration results, defects, dependencies, and risks
  • Help define quality gates and exit criteria for application releases and migration events
  • Produce test summaries, reconciliation reports, defect metrics, and release-readiness documentation
  • Work with Appian developers, database and integration engineers, business analysts, and project stakeholders supporting federal application modernization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum two years of professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or test engineering
  • Hands-on experience testing Appian applications or comparable low-code enterprise platforms
  • Experience executing functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing
  • Experience developing or maintaining automated testing frameworks
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Experience testing system integrations, database conversions, data migrations, or data-intensive applications
  • Ability to interpret source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, requirements, and acceptance criteria
  • Experience managing defects and test execution through Jira, Xray, or comparable tools
  • Familiarity with continuous integration pipelines and Git or GitHub workflows
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Successful candidates must be able to pass a government background investigation and satisfy public trust requirements
  • US Citizenship or US Green Card is required
  • Preferred: four or more years of experience in software quality assurance, automated testing, or test engineering
  • Preferred: Appian testing experience involving records, process models, interfaces, integrations, plugins, and custom components
  • Preferred: experience with FitNesse for Appian or another Appian test-automation tool
  • Preferred: experience with Ruby, JRuby, Java, Python, or a comparable automation language
  • Preferred: experience creating automated SQL-based reconciliation or data-quality tests
  • Preferred: experience supporting migration rehearsals, production cutovers, rollback testing, and post-deployment validation
  • Preferred: experience with Jenkins, Docker, RubyMine, AWS-hosted environments, or similar technologies
  • Preferred: familiarity with federal system testing, documentation, security, and release-management requirements
