About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in research on the molecular biology of respiratory viral infection using rhinovirus and mammalian cell culture
  • Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including PCR, gene cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, sequencing analyses, and related procedures
  • Culture mammalian cell lines and perform viral infection experiments at BSL2
  • Use microscopy, flow cytometry, protein assays, and real-time PCR
  • Assist with general laboratory organization, including inventory and day-to-day research activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field
  • Strong technical skills in molecular biology
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research laboratory
  • Criminal background check required
  • Submit resume and cover letter
  • Candidates with an M.S. degree in biology or a related field preferred
  • Prior research experience working with large datasets (e.g., RNAi screens) preferred
  • Experience working with and training undergraduate students preferred
  • Experience with the research organizational structure in the Biology Department at Miami University (Oxford) preferred
