About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Drive design wins to revenue at selected customer projects
Provide in-depth engineering support for end-customer embedded wired-connectivity design requirements
Support the Sales Team in identifying new opportunities
Discuss customer needs with System Architects and R&D Teams
Propose Microchip product-based solutions
Assist customer R&D Teams during the design phase and address or anticipate issues
Involve relevant Business Unit Application departments when additional support is needed
Adapt existing reference designs to specific customer needs
Support wired communication product applications as a member of the Wired Networking Function Group
Deliver or facilitate customer technical training classes with the Regional Training Centre organization
Support other Field Applications Engineers in winning designs
Contribute to initiatives involving 5G, data centers, autonomous driving, the Internet of Things, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence and machine learning
Report to the FAE group leader in Italy

Requirements

What you’ll need

BSc or BEng in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded systems design
Strong knowledge of communication protocols, including physical and application layers and TCP/IP
Knowledge of wired communications products, including hardware, security standards, industrial and automotive protocol stacks, MCU/MPU wired communication peripherals and drivers
Experience or knowledge of bare metal, RTOS, Zephyr, and Linux environments
Ability to work across different teams and departments
Ability to develop innovative solutions to customer challenges
Willingness to travel to the USA and other European countries for training and business needs
Fluent Italian and English, written and spoken
Valid driving license
