About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and support the development, coordination, implementation, documentation, and assessment of cultural, educational, social, recreational, and leadership programming
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for non-instructional student events, including scheduling, facilities, transportation, equipment, and inventory management
  • Use technology platforms for scheduling, promotion, engagement tracking, and virtual leadership training
  • Advise student organizations on College procedures, leadership development, organizational operations, recognition, compliance, advisor support, and risk management
  • Supervise, train, evaluate, coach, and support professional staff, student workers, and graduate/student leadership positions
  • Manage Student Life budgets, monitor expenditures, prepare projections, and steward departmental and student activity fee resources
  • Co-advise the Student Government Association and support student leadership and shared governance
  • Develop assessment strategies, analyze engagement and learning outcomes data, and prepare reports and recommendations
  • Help develop and evaluate departmental strategic goals, annual objectives, and operational priorities
  • Provide leadership development, training, mentoring, campus traditions, recognition events, welcome activities, and engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments on co-curricular programs promoting engagement, retention, belonging, and student success
  • Represent the Director of Student Life on committees, task forces, and meetings; assume administrative leadership in the Director’s absence
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in student life, student engagement, student affairs, higher education administration, leadership development, or a related field
  • Supervisory experience
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for recruitment events
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Two years’ supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong PC skills with knowledge of MS Office and enterprise resource planning tools
  • Experience with Colleague or Banner preferred
  • Proficiency in a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system such as Ellucian Recruit preferred
  • Strong social media/website management skills preferred
  • Must meet New Jersey residency law requirements under the NJ First Act if hired after September 1, 2011
