About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the successful delivery of projects for Mila’s internal applied research team
Oversee the operational execution of applied research projects, from initial scoping through delivery
Track deliverables, manage budgets, meet deadlines, and ensure compliance with statements of work
Continuously improve agile organizational practices and remove operational roadblocks
Serve as the primary point of contact for relationship governance with clients and collaborators
Align business expectations with scientific imperatives and maintain a high level of satisfaction
Provide daily guidance, support, and mentorship to the research team
Manage talent and foster professional development
Coordinate applied research with AI development and product definition teams
Stay current with advances in AI to support the organization’s innovation and leadership position

Requirements

What you’ll need

5–7 years of experience in a similar role
Proficiency in a scientific project management methodology
Proven experience facilitating activities for multidisciplinary teams
Strong understanding of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) concepts
Ability to communicate effectively with researchers and developers
Hands-on experience delivering projects for corporate clients
Experience tracking statements of work, managing budgets, and overseeing timelines
Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
Collaborative leadership and team mentoring skills
Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, is essential
