About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Respond to approximately 65 customer phone inquiries per day regarding court information, case status, hearings, continuances, and Zoom hearings
- Respond to information requests from the public, attorneys, and court employees
- Provide information according to applicable policies, laws, and procedures
- Issue receipts for court fees, fines, bail, and restitution
- Check people in for court
- Assist the public with applications and forms
- Prepare certified and plain copies of court records
- Scan and image documents, perform data entry, and retrieve and file case files
- File and retrieve paper, exhibit, electronic, and digital records
- Maintain court documents, files, records, and reports
- Index and update records in electronic case management systems
- Initiate case records and record party, document, flag, comment, and event data
- Attend team meetings and trainings and maintain knowledge of court procedures
- Use office equipment, operating systems, and information systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Six (6) months of relevant job experience
- Additional education may substitute for experience
- Ability to connect to high-speed internet if working remotely
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
- Experience working in Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS) preferred
- Experience working in a high-volume customer service environment preferred
- Knowledge of court organization, operation, function, and jurisdiction
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Knowledge of customer service practices and techniques
- Skill in operating a personal computer
- Ability to learn and apply rules, statutes, laws, policies, and procedures
- Ability to learn court automated information systems
- Ability to accurately enter data and update records
- Ability to maintain an accurate record filing system
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters appropriately
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively orally and in writing
- Satisfactory criminal background check required
