About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Program Manager with planning, coordination, and execution of contractual requirements for technical support of naval and allied vessels, systems, and ship sustainment infrastructure
- Oversee portions of daily program operations and compliance with the Statement of Work, cost, schedule, technical, and security requirements
- Support management of multidisciplinary engineering, logistics, and shipyard support efforts across CONUS and OCONUS locations
- Contribute to establishing program milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules
- Identify and help resolve program challenges through coordinated resource allocation, process improvements, or recommended contractual adjustments
- Provide direct support to the Program Manager
- Lead program review sessions covering cost, schedule, and technical performance
- Coordinate program requirements across planning stages with subcontractors and direct assigned employees
- Proactively resolve program issues
- Interface with government customers to ensure program requirements are met
- Develop new business or expand services with the customer
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring progress and intervention/problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients
- Coordinate with CONUS and OCONUS shipyards, OEMs, and subcontractors to support ship alteration, repair, and overhaul work packages
- Support configuration management activities documenting the current status of ships, systems, and equipment
- Support domestic and international travel requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Fifteen (15) years of increasing engineering management responsibility, including at least five (5) years in USG ship or submarine construction or repair/overhaul
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or business-related field
- Ability to coordinate domestic and international requirements, several subcontractors, and employees, including lower-level management assigned to the program
- Full working knowledge of program procedures and practices
- Demonstrated experience managing DoD or Navy programs, including planning, execution, cost/schedule tracking, and risk management
- Experience with naval vessel maintenance, repair, overhaul, activation/reactivation, and shipyard work
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for such clearance
- Current passport
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including extended stays in support of overseas customer engagements
- Must be able to obtain base access and CAC card
- Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience is highly desirable
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Experience supporting multi-site or complex naval programs, including shipbuilding/overhaul environments preferred
- Experience supporting international customer engagements involving foreign government information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling requirements preferred
- A current or active DoD security clearance preferred
- May be required to visit a job site in an industrial or shipboard environment
- Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level
