About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, and central utility plant systems
- Manage day-to-day operations and technical readiness of program and facility equipment
- Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct customer interface
- Mentor Navy mechanical and electrical technicians on building systems
- Operate facility MEP infrastructure, centralized utility plant, computer room air handlers, uninterruptible power supplies, building HVAC, generators, fire prevention systems, and Building Management Systems in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Operate, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems supporting buildings and a 24x7 critical data center
- Participate in an on-call rotation for weekends and nights and respond quickly to critical system emergencies
- Assist with strategic maintenance planning and capital projects
- Coordinate with contractors, project personnel, and the Facilities Manager
- Perform other duties as needed and required
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years relevant experience with a bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years relevant experience with a master's degree in a related field; or high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience with HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Experience or working knowledge of add-on, replacement, and retrofit installation of small and large HVAC equipment, including chillers, pumps, and controls
- Knowledge or experience developing and coordinating preventive maintenance programs for equipment reliability and safety
- Experience or knowledge with mechanical and electrical infrastructure and design
- Proficient written and verbal communication for managing equipment libraries/data logs and communicating effectively with customers
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and obtain/maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance within one year of employment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Preferred: experience troubleshooting Johnson Controls Inc. Metasys, Schneider Electric I/A Series Controls (BACnet), or Tridium Niagara Framework
- Preferred: expert knowledge of ASHRAE, OSHA, NFPA, and NEC standards
- Capable of climbing ladders, tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances, and lifting/moving materials within one-person lift guidelines
