About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and optimize secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions for DSCA Office of the CIO
  • Build, design, implement, and refine cloud architectures across network and security
  • Lead early scoping definitions and identify critical dependencies
  • Identify and mitigate technology risks and develop supporting architecture
  • Collaborate with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction
  • Develop and document frameworks for integration and implementation of cloud systems
  • Determine sizing, capacity planning, and infrastructure, network, and security requirements
  • Design end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions balancing performance, security, scalability, and cost efficiency
  • Plan and execute migrations from legacy on-premise systems to cloud-native environments, preferably AWS GovCloud
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Terraform
  • Implement security controls including IAM policies, encryption, VPC architecture, network security, and Zero Trust principles
  • Ensure compliance with DoD RMF, FedRAMP, and other requirements
  • Optimize cloud environments through monitoring, cost analysis, performance tuning, and resource management
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable solutions and executive-level recommendations
  • Support Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration strategies
  • Develop automation pipelines and integrate with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to advance mission goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud platforms, services, and best practices
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python or similar languages
  • Solid understanding of networking, security (IAM, VPC, encryption), and Zero Trust models
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach
  • Must possess and maintain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration
  • Must align with Eastern Time Zone core business hours
  • Solutions Architect III: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 3 years with Master's degree; 0 years with PhD; or high school diploma/equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
  • Solutions Architect IV: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 7 years with Master's degree; 4 years with PhD; or high school diploma/equivalent and 13 years relevant experience
  • Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification, or equivalent, preferred
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government cloud environments preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, ADVANA, or other cloud data/analytics platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with migration tools and strategies preferred
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring tools preferred
  • Experience in SAFe Agile environments preferred
  • Strong communication skills with technical teams and senior leadership preferred
  • Ability to remain stationary and work at a computer for prolonged periods
  • Ability to operate a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in virtual meetings, briefings, and secure collaboration environments
  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret digital data for extended periods
  • Occasional ability to lift documents or equipment up to 10 lbs
  • Must maintain a home work environment meeting company and government security requirements
  • Must work assigned East Coast core business hours
