About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments
- Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
- Coordinate, plan, and implement network security measures
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, network, and system problems
- Maintain, configure, and monitor virus protection software and email applications
- Monitor network performance and determine required adjustments
- Confer with network users to solve system problems
- Operate master consoles to monitor network and computer-system performance
- Coordinate computer network access and use
- Design, configure, and test networking software, computer hardware, and operating-system software
- Support the 603rd Air and Space Operations Center as a communications-infrastructure subject matter expert
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Master’s in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation
- Network security experience
- LAN and WAN experience
- Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technology and products
- Ability to work with staff within and outside IT and outside the organization
- Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances
